Following several successful trips to the Isles of Scilly, it has now become one of our regular and favourite fly-out destinations. Another trip is planned during August 2009
to this unique and beautiful archipelago just 28 miles south west of Land's End on the rugged Cornish coast. We usually stay overnight and return the following afternoon.

As there is no aviation fuel available on the islands, the first leg is usually to Perranporth airport to pick up fuel for the return flight. Then on to St Mary’s airport either direct or including an aerial tour around the islands (a choice of 140 islands and islets).
Some of the great photo's taken of the Scilly Isles.
St Mary's
The five inhabited islands are St Mary's, the largest, Tresco, the second largest with
no cars and subtropical gardens; St Martin's, noted for its beautiful shells;
St Agnes; and Bryher, each island very different from the other.
Photo's of varying quality from the aircraft !

CHANNEL ISLANDS AND FRANCE
We've enjoyed several great fly-out to Guernsey and Brittany and plan another trip in September 2009. Flying out of Swansea we usually lunch on Guernsey then fly to Dinard in France to clear customs and then spent one night in beautiful sunny Dinan. Club members have done this trip in February and were very impressed with picturesque Dinan despite the weather. When the trip was done in summer the weather did us proud. On the return leg, we flyout of Dinard, lunching on Jersey, then back home to Swansea. This trip is enjoyed by everyone, and we will certainly be doing this destination many times again.
GUERNSEY

Guernsey is the second largest of the Channel Islands, it is approximately nine miles by five miles wide in a
triangular shape covering 24 square miles in area.
One of the first impressions you get is the Island's natural beauty and unique location. With its mild climate Guernsey boasts around 2000 hours of sunshine per year. It features dramtic cliffs, steep wooded valleys running down to the sea, beautiful beaches, quiet rural lanes, and breath taking views.
When it comes to food and drink, you will certainly be spoilt for choice in Guernsey.
The main town of St Peter Port, one of the most picturesque harbour towns you could find, offers a staggering variety of restaurants, brassieres, bistros, cafes and bars. There really is something for everyone, with cuisines ranging from Italian, French, Indian, Chinese and Thai, to cordon bleu menus and local specialities, such as fresh seafood dishes.
The choice continues throughout the rest of the Island, from rustic resturants to
simpler bar meals, with beautiful views over the coastline.
Onward to DINARD
OVER FRANCE & DINARD
APPROACHING DINARD DINARD RUNWAY
Although we will have just a short stop-over in Dinard it has something for everyone: great history, wonderful natural beauty, magnificent villas, Mediterranean gardens, lovely sandy beaches, and miles of seaside promenades amidst flowers and palm trees.
Then on to our final destination: DINAN
Dinan Runway
Dinan is perhaps one of the prettiest medieval walled cities in France.
Time seems to have slipped over this town without damaging it.
It’s half timbered houses dating from the 13th and 14th century & almost intact city walls.
cobbled rambling streets, churches & convent overlooking the river Rance make Dinan
a pleasant place to enjoy the delights of Brittany with artisan shops nestling alongside traditional
Dinan overlooks the River Rance which has a fine Gothic bridge
Take a walk along the rambling cobbled streets or take the old town tourist
train for an one hour tour.
The Castle houses a small museum of the towns history. The watchtower terrace
allows a panoramic view of the town, Rue de la Cordonnerie is the street of pubs
in the old town, or try one of the café style bars, bistros and creperies that
serve sandwiches, salads, croque-monsiuer, - as well as booze.
Every restaurant, café, bar or creperie will have its Patrons selection of regional wines
A glass of wine will cost you a couple of Euros, as will a small beer or lager.
